Appearing live from the New York studios, he told presenter Regis Philbin, who has family connections with Mayo: “We finished the Glee tour in Dublin so I went to spend a few days with my parents in the west coast, County Mayo.”
When asked what the name of the town was, the 23-year-old hesitated but stated “right outside of Ballina, before struggling to remember the town-land name. “There was this massive lake and we had my friend’s cousins showing us around.”
The actor also referred to the Glee show’s huge success in Ireland. “Apparently, we sell the most music in Ireland,” he said.
Glee fans, known as ‘Gleeks’, spotted the star in north Mayo last month with his whereabouts rapidly discussed online and through social networking forums.
