Anton McNultyPARTIES involved in the An Bord Pleanála Oral hearing on the modification of the Corrib gas onshore pipeline route will have to wait another two months for a decision after it was deferred until October.
Shell EP Ireland applied to modify the Corrib gas onshore pipeline route and for compulsory acquisition orders to private land on a 9km route under the Strategic Infrastructure Act. This resulted in a 19-day oral hearing chaired by inspector Martin Nolan which took place in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel in Belmullet last May.
Some 78 submissions were heard for and against the application during the hearing. The revised route for the 9.2 km onshore pipeline was selected as a result of a recommendation by Government mediator Peter Cassells in 2006.
The initial decision date had been set as August 10, but the appeals board has informed all parties that the decisions will be made on or before October 23, ‘due to the complex nature of the case’.
