Mayo to welcome US country star home

NASHVILLE-based Deirdre Reilly is proud of her roots. Her dad hails from Belmullet town and she loves to sport the red and green of Mayo wherever the music takes her.
Mayo people who visit Nashville are always in for a special welcome if they chance to meet up with Deirdre in ‘Music City’. This month sees her on an Irish tour with shows in various parts of the country.
She is especially looking forward to her gig in Digger Jay’s of Ayle on Friday, April 25. Another show has been pencilled in for the Sadler’s Inn, Kingsland, Boyle, on Friday, May 2.
Her aunts, Sadie and Anna Maria and uncle Gerard all reside in Belmullet, and they are all looking forward to seeing her back in the ‘home’ county.
Deirdre has recorded some fine country albums and has made guest appearances on a number of RTÉ shows in recent years. The highly-acclaimed performer is thrilled to be heading to Mayo at the end of the month.

The Outlaws ride west again
IT’S round-up time at Digger Jay's this Friday night as The Outlaws ride west again! The band has been kicking up a right old shindig in recent months as they finally begin to make serious inroads into this part of the country.
Firmly established as a major draw in the south and south east, as well as in the north, it has taken them a little longer to bring the ‘old west’ under their spell. But things have been falling nicely into place in recent times. In an indication of the band’s rising stature in these parts, the band played support to Big Tom and the Mainliners in the Royal Ballroom in Castlebar on Easter Monday night.
They also have a healthy diary ahead for the year, with bookings pouring in for dances, weddings, and barn dances. The Outlaws are fronted by Diane Traynor, a vivacious young singer and fiddle player from Co Monaghan, and Sean Hughes from Castleblayney.
Country fans who head to Diggers Jay's on Friday night will be guaranteed a great night of music and dancing, and a mighty welcome from host Mr JJ Shaughnessy.
